“Heels of Hypocrisy”

This ain`t no glass shoe
or sparkling ruby slipper,
nor is it blue suede
to make you look hipper.

Yea, this dirty ol` shoe—
make no mistake—
was found on a hook,
pulled from a murky ol` lake.

As for its upper,
its worn like its sole
with no laces in places
and a toe with a hole.

It stinks to high heaven—
an olfactory offence—
you wouldn`t wear this
if you had any sense...

But, the fact is we`re human—
it`s in everyone`s blood—
though we try and we try,
we don`t always do what we should...

Yea, this is the shoe—
worn and tattered is it !
That we all indeed wear
when we play the hypocrite...

Yet, there is a way out—
to take off this shoe;
it`s the way of integrity,
a resolve to be honest and true !
