“Twinkle, Twinkle”

We all want the `good life`
in this thing we call life
with minimal suffering,
hardship and strife...

Our desire for Eden
is good and is pure
but of the way of regaining
we`re confused and unsure.

We spend more on our cars
and the things people see,
silly symbols of status
vain vapors of vanity.

The `US` in Jesus
is for us and for them,
a pervasive mentality
that creates division.

When it comes to our faith
we pick and we choose,
valuing style and comfort
like trying on shoes.

We invest in the best
except when it comes to our cross
there we cut corners
and choose gain over loss.

Most women know better
as we men fail to revere
and forget that we`re kings
and our wives, Guinevere.

We want everything easy;
we want our own way !
Like fast food made to order
we just demand and we pay.

And of our crosses we bear
indeed they are hard;
they make as they break us
like pots into shards.

But, if we really want to know
and make Jesus our friend
we must walk in His shoes
and endure til the end.

For you can`t know another
without sharing their life—
the mountains and valleys,
the joy and the strife.

He did all that He could
from Adam, the first until last,
so how can we shrink
and let our bitter cups pass ?

For there`s glory awaiting
and a crown that won`t fade;
too, a city of light
with no darkness or shade.

And at the finish we`ll see
a face full of delight—
two smiley eyes—
twinkling like stars in the night !
