Water Walker II

“Lion of Lewis”

We all have our battles,
secret wars that we wage,
chapters, we wish would be over
so we could just turn the page;

dark woods where we`re lost,
searching for light,
full of fear and confusion,
blind without sight.

Yet, we believe that He sees;
we believe that He hears;
although our love`s not yet perfect,
because we still fear to draw near.

But, He reaches to touch
as He stoops and He bends
to lift us up high
as He humbly descends.

Thus, if we`ll take a step
out of the boat
onto the waves,
He`ll keep us afloat.

Now don`t look away
or give into fear
because He`s right there beside you
in front and at rear.

Yea, He`s part of your soul,
sealed with a stamp
by His Spirit of Truth
who is your heart`s lamp.

So, although your way it grows dark
He`ll illumine your path,
little by little,
if you`ll knock and you`ll ask.

For He is the God
who loves to reveal
Himself to seekers—
He`ll prove that He`s real.

Truly, down through the ages,
mystics and sages
have encountered the Lord
and recorded on pages.

Now, too, for you
He waits for the time
when your heart is ready
for Him to rise and to shine.

So, don`t be afraid—
although to meet a lion we should—
for this God is not safe
but, indeed He is good !

“Water Walker”

The war, it has raged
for six bitter long years
with few moments of pride
and a field full of tears.

Sometimes I did fight;
sometimes I resisted;
sometimes I did flee;
sometimes I persisted.

I often would cry
when I did give in
then I`d lament and repent
of my folly and sin.

In my heart I did wish
that God would just say the word
and put an end to this warfare—
now does that seem absurd ?

Like Cinderella`s godmother
I wished he just wave His wand
to break my chains and my shackles
and set me free from my bonds.

Still, I thank the Good Lord
for forbearing with me
and washing away all of my sins
in the depths of the sea.

And, as they do sink
He, too, even forgets
the wrong that I`ve done,
that sin that besets.

Again, I say thank you,
Lord, for delivering me
and causing me to walk
upon the waves of the sea !
